8 Smoothies to Nourish Your Brain

8 Smoothies to Nourish Your Brain

Your brain requires three things to function exercise, sleep, and nutrition. However, if you are one of the millions of people who follow the typical western lifestyle you probably are not getting enough of these.

The upside is that your brain is extremely good at making do for short periods of time, but it cannot function optimally for too long without getting what it needs. In truth, many degenerative brain disorders are now being linked to poor dietary choices.

From human history, the functions of the brain have been a mystery, in recent decades scientists have begun to understand more clearly how it works.

Just like a vehicle, your brain functions only if you feed it the proper fuel.  It requires specific nutrients to keep your thoughts flowing well and your memory operating efficiently.  If you offer it a lifetime of garbage, it can literally wither up and stop working.

Recent research is calling Alzheimer’s disease type 2 diabetes. To completely oversimplify how sugar leads to Alzheimer’s, let us take a basic look at how things work. Your pancreas produces insulin which is what tells your cells to absorb blood sugar glucose, that your brain uses for fuel.

When the insulin sends signals to your cells to often, such as when you have too much sugar in your blood, your cells start ignoring the insulin.

Now you are insulin resistant and your brain is not getting enough glucose to function properly. You begin to lose memory and cognitive skills and Alzheimer develops. This could be the kindergarten biology version; however, you get the idea.

Some signs that your brain is not getting the nutrients it needs includes:

  • Anxiety
  • Brain Fog
  • Confusion
  • Depression

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you probably have written them off as simply part of living a stressful lifestyle and getting older however that could not be the case. Fortunately, smoothies are great means of regaining quick nutrition so that your brain can begin to get rid of the garbage and start running on all eight cylinders again.

Look for produce that contains brain healthful omega 3s, Vitamin B, and Vitamin C, D, and E. Here are a few great smoothie recipes to help you get back on track to mental clarity and superhero brain function.

Smoothies are one of the most nourished and nutrient filled means of taking adequate care of our brain because it is the blend of fruits. Well! Being a keto dieter, this is really golden for me to know of as it would really give me more options to eat from. I like the mango mint blend and the others here. I would definitely give them all a chance to myself. Thumbs up

This is true, nice to have smoothies to nourish the brain among other nutrients not obtained through foods we eat.

I like how the ingredients are rather basic and everything listed on each of these smoothies can be found in m local grocery store’s produce aisle. It helps when I can find ideas for different types of smoothies – something I crave as the weather gets warmer – and I don’t have to go to three different stores to get all the ingredients. Thanks for the article and I might actually try one of these tomorrow as even during these crazy times, the fresh fruit section seems to be pretty well stocked.

Oh my word there are so many types of smoothies that one should really try out. I’m very happy to see that you can actually  give us some nutritional details at the start of this post. That on its own is a big confidence boost. I have always loved smoothies but I do not have so much time to make them on my own. I would however like to explore the different types that you have given here especially the mango mint and the berries too. They’ll be really good. Thank you!

Dealing with the most important organ of the body one has to give it all it takes and for me, I have been really consistent with exercises but not very well with sleeping. However, Sony rest pay attention to nutrition and I feel bad for it, so I want to say thank you for helping with this amazing blog post. Aside adults I would also love to give my daughter this smoothie to take to school to help with her brain and she is a lover of mango actually. I would just stay back and try to make the cherry berry mint julep smoothie for myself.
